Re-tiling brick fireplace with marble, this is right?


Instead of cutting around 1/4 to 1/2 in of the 12×12 marble tiles in order to spot 5 through the width of the fireplace, he took out 1/2 in from every side of my fireplace. Close To the top, there’s a 1 in gap. He stated he would put wire and fill it with mortar. Would this do the work? Also, build

Marble tiles over extant red brick tiles on fireplace?


The master removed the white paint from the fireplace than put marble tiles over it and next used grout. When I look at the tiles upward the firebox, I see that there’s a bit of place between the extant red bricks and the marble tile. Is this okay or would there be more adhesive behind the marble tile o
